Joshua De Silva

Joshua De Silva is a Sri Lankan born 7 string guitarist and vocalist. Forming the backbone of his style is a technique that combines guitar and bass parts simultaneously on one guitar, influenced
by Charlie Hunter and the fingerstyle tradition, refined during his postgraduate studies at WAAPA.

As a singer, Josh draws from artists like Stevie Wonder, Ed Sheeran and James Taylor to form a
soulful, velvet voice that sits on top of his layered guitar accompaniment.

Josh can often be seen performing in the Perth music scene with his brother and sisters, skilled composers and musicians in their own right, and recently he has made a name for himself in Perth’s Brazilian music scene performing alongside local Brazilian artists like Juliana Areias and Danilo da Paz.
